Today, I want to share three quick personal tips for how to be a feminist with you all. I’m not afraid to say that I am a feminist and I believe the ongoing feminism movement is not only making our world a better place, but is urgently needed in this day and age. So, let’s begin!
- Believe in equal rights: this is the basis for feminism and until fairly recently, I wasn’t even aware that this was the case. The term ‘feminism’ can sound like a scary word and to me, like many others out there, it had seemed like a big responsibility to be a feminist when unknown to me, I already believed in what feminists promote.
- Take a stand: whenever you hear or see an unequal representation of the sexes, say something. Whether that’s from someone you know, a celebrity or a newspaper (i.e. ‘The Daily Mail’), challenge it. For those of you that don’t live in Britain, the middle-market tabloid ‘The Daily Mail’ is notorious for headlines like these:
I mean Feminazis, REALLY?!
3. Read up on it: it always helps to read articles, blogs, even tweets by inspirational empowered females and feminists and to keep up to date on advances in the feminism movement, as well as to find out about what we all can do to bring our society into the 21st century…
